The Bridges into Work team is here to support local people gain the skills and confidence to become job ready and help gain employment.

If you live in Merthyr Tydfil, are not in full time education, not working or working under 16 hours per week then Bridges into Work will offer you support to move closer to employment.

Bridges into Work can help you access free learning opportunities to gain the skills and qualifications you need to get into employment. Essential skills development is also available.

PERSONAL SUPPORT PROGRAMME

What is Bridges into Work Personal Support programme?

The aim of the Bridges into Work Personal Support Programme is to help the people of Merthyr Tydfil to gain long term employment. This can be as simple as helping you to fill in an application form or, as long term as supporting you on training courses.


How does it work?

The Personal Support team is made up of six Personal Support Workers who will work closely with you to help you gain employment. A Personal Support Worker will advise and encourage you so that you can access free training that you need in order to start or return to work. When you are ready to start work, the support team will also help with writing a CV, job search, application forms and interview techniques.

HOSPITALITY PROGRAMME

What is Bridges into Work Hospitality Programme?

The aim of the Bridges into Work Hospitality Programme is to help the people of Merthyr Tydfil gain the skills and training needed to become job ready and gain employment. If you are interested in working within hospitality, leisure or tourism and need help to access the right training course, then we can help.

How does it work?
With the support of a Personal Support Worker, we will lead you to a range of free courses which will enable you to gain the new skills and qualifications you need in order to progress. You can also benefit from essential skills development.

How do you get involved?

If you are over 16, live in Merthyr Tydfil and are unemployed or work less than 16 hours a week, we help you. All you need to do is contact us on: 01685 726124 or email s.douglasrobert@merthyr.ac.uk

Project Eligibility:

  • Aged 16 or over
  • Unemployed or working less than 16 hours per week
  • Studying less than 16 hours per week
  • Living in Merthyr Tydfil
  • Not on the Work Programme or Work Choice
